Neighbours star April Rose Pengilly admits she’s ‘rattled’ ‘every time her phone goes off’

April Rose Pengilly has taken a stand against online bullies after being relentlessly trolled on social media.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Thursday, the 32-year-old Neighbours actress spoke about how the nasty comments have affected her. 

‘It is really difficult when something like this happens, it kind of rattles me for a few days,’ she confessed.

‘Every time my phone goes off I don’t know if I am going to pick it up and find a nice message from a friend or a notification about a shoe sale or a horribly jarring personal attack.’ 

She added: ‘I am very sensitive and I do take it on. Sometimes it can hit a bit close to home.’ 

April admitted that she finds it ‘strange’ that dealing with online trolls seems to be an accepted part of the job for people working in the public eye. 

But while she may be accustomed to it, it all seemed to have become a bit too much, with April sharing screenshots of some of the hateful comments she’s received on Instagram Stories on Wednesday.

One supposed fan branded April a ‘disgusting d**e’ after she took more than 10 minutes to respond to a message on Facebook.

‘You think your [sic] so much better than everyone else… Rude, ugly, whore, nasty self obsessed to name a few,’ they continued.

‘Awful actress with terrible dress sense who shouldn’t be on TV… Why don’t you drop dead slag. Hope your mum gets cancer and dies.’

An understandably shaken April was flabbergasted by the person’s vile overreaction, and urged her followers to practice kindness.

‘Let’s all just be nice and look after each other pls? Thank u luv u,’ she wrote.
