Jamie Lee Curtis officiated wedding for late fan with terminal cancer who watched advance screening of Halloween Kills

Jamie Lee Curtis revealed on The Talk Tuesday a heart-wrenching series of events she had with a fan who was battling terminal cancer prior to his tragic death at 29 in September.

Curtis said that people at the Terrace Theatre in Charleston, South Carolina contacted Halloween producers about the fan, named Anthony Woodle, and his health battle.

The 61-year-old actress, who’s reprised her role of Laurie Strode in the latest installment in the horror anthology, said she learned that Woodle, ‘a young man that works’ at the theater ‘was diagnosed with cancer and didn’t have long to live.’

Curtis said that producer David Gordon Green screened Halloween Kills for Woodle, giving him a chance ‘a movie that no one in the world has seen’ due to the sensitive time-frame (as the movie’s release has been delayed until October 2021 amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic).

‘He showed Anthony and his fiancée, Emilee, the chance to see the Halloween movie which I thought was just a beautiful gesture,’ Curtis said, adding that she then reached out to Woodle.

She continued: ‘I simply followed it up by calling Anthony and sort of started a conversation to say, I could tell him any secrets.

‘And it turned out that I also offered to marry him, because I am an officiant and it turned out that his wedding wasn’t going to be able to happen because he was so near death.’

Curtis said of the fan, named Anthony Woodle (with his wife Emilee) : 'He was the greatest Halloween fan in the world - and I know a lot of them!'

Curtis, who’s appeared in films such as True Lies, Trading Places and A Fish Called Wanda, said ‘it was a privilege’ to preside over the wedding, which was held in the final hours of Woodle’s life, according to The Charleston Post and Courier.

‘It turned out to be something incredibly moving and life affirming,’ she said.

She added of Woodle: ‘He was the greatest Halloween fan in the world – and I know a lot of them!’
