Ed Sheeran’s first demo album made when he was just 13-years-old is being sold for the second time

Ed Sheeran’s first demo album made when he was just 13-years-old is being sold for the second time… after a previous copy made £50k at auction

An Ed Sheeran demo once sold by the singer’s mother is going under the hammer for the second time.

The current seller bought the collection of love songs from Sheeran’s mother in Framlingham, Suffolk, where the star grew up, in 2005.

The woman, who is not being named, was keen to support musicians from the area and is selling her copy of the Spinning Man – Sheeran’s first demo, recorded when he was 13 – at auction.

Second time on the block: An Ed Sheeran demo once sold by the singer’s mother is going under the hammer for the second time

It will be sold alongside a copy of Sheeran’s second CD, The Orange Room, self-released by the singer-songwriter in 2005.

Both CDs – sold together and expected to fetch £20,000 – sat on the vendor’s shelf for 15 years.

Another copy of Spinning Man recently fetched £50,000 at Omega Auctions.

Auctioneer Paul Fairweather said: ‘The result in September garnered worldwide press attention – so it’s not totally unexpected to see another CD come out of the woodwork.

‘However we’re very happy to present this rare CD alongside one that has certainly never been sold before.’

He said: ‘Ed’s parents played a large part in his career and it’s fascinating to see that that dedication extended to selling individual copies of their teenage son’s CD.’

The CD is going under the hammer at Omega Auctions in an online sale on November 24.

The previous copy of Spinning Man was the subject of a ‘fierce battle’ between keen bidders at am auction in September.

The Shape Of You hitmaker, 29, made 20 copies of the track and still owns 19 of them after previously stating that he didn’t want anybody to ‘get hold of a copy’.

Spinning Man consists of various love songs including Addicted, On My Mind and Misery, with the album being dug out from a drawer after being ‘forgotten’ about for many years.

It is said that Ed wrote the album while he was staying with relatives during his busking days and gave a copy of the album to a pal of his loved one.

The pal’s brother, Kevin, 48, went on to sell the CD. He told PA: ‘My brother put it in a drawer and forgot about it.’

Meanwhile, Ed previously said in his book, Ed Sheeran: A Visual Journey, that he penned the album after getting his heart broken by his first love.

He said: ‘In 2004, I made my very first album, Spinning Man, named after a picture that my dad had,” he said.

‘I burnt the CDs myself and made the covers. There were 14 songs, and they were all songs that rhymed.
