In the video, the commentator was heard saying: ‘Right uppercut, put him away. And he ain’t getting up from that.

‘It was the right hand that put him down, he had been hurt in the previous exchange and a beautiful punch to end the fight in the second round.’

After his knockout win, Tommy’s father John could be seen cheering on the side of the ring and showing his support for the professional boxer.

His Lithuanian opponent required medical treatment after the contest but made it to his feet with no signs of serious damage, SkySports reported.

Following the fight, Tommy said: ‘At the end of the day I just needed to ease into it as I’ve been out of it a year. I started putting shots together and felt comfortable.

‘I’ve had no amateur experience and I’m learning on the job. It’s a long road, but we are going to get there.’

It was the first time that the boxer has fought in almost a year, after he beat Przemyslaw Binienda in the first round last December.

But Tommy is not showing signs of taking another year-long time-out after his latest win, as he insists he intends to jump back into the ring as soon as he can.

Standing with his promoter Frank Warren, he continued: ‘I just need more of it and that is the simple answer. I would fight every couple of weeks if I could.’

Tommy’s girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague, 21, said she was disappointed that she was not able to attend her beau’s latest fight due to the current Covid-19 safety restrictions.

She took to her Instagram Stories to explain ‘how frustrating’ it was to only be able to watch it ‘on TV’ and later shared a congratulatory message after Tommy’s victory.

While preparing for his big fight, Tommy shared pictures of his body transformation on Instagram last week.

Showing off his muscles from various angles on Instagram, the TV star was clearly feeling prepared for what was to come – and proved his talents in the ring on Friday.

Alongside the snaps, he captioned: ‘Currently in the best shape I’ve been in for a very long time. Feeling fit and ready, 1 WEEK TO GO.’

Molly-Mae wrote ‘Proud of you’ and Mark Wright, 33, wrote: ‘Serious shape brother.’

His brother, a WBC heavyweight champion, 32, who has been training with him, wrote: ‘Great shape bro.’

Tommy met his girlfriend Molly-Mae on the fifth series of Love Island in 2019 and the couple made it all the way to the final, coming as runners-up to winners Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea.

Since leaving the reality TV show, the pair have taken the next step in their relationship and moved in to an apartment together in Manchester earlier this year.

The loved-up couple have already started talking about having children, with Molly insisting that they will know when ‘the time is right’ but adding that Tommy ‘wants so many kids’.

She said earlier this month: ‘I’ve answered questions like this before but I don’t know like with the baby thing. I just feel like when the time is right, we will know.

‘Honestly, if it was up to Tommy, we would have a baby today, tomorrow and the next day. He wants so many kids.’
