Zac Efron is spotted enjoying a night out at an Adelaide bar after flying to South Australia to begin work on his upcoming movie Gold

Zac Efron is making the most of his time in Adelaide, after flying into South Australia last Friday.

The 33-year-old actor was spotted sitting at the bar at Crybaby in Adelaide’s CBD on Wednesday.

A fan shared a video of the star enjoying a night out on social media and captioned it: ‘Just your average Wednesday night hang with Zac Efron’.

Zac was spotted at Gold Coast Airport on Friday, the same day it was announced he’d be filming the Stan original film, Gold, in South Australia.

The Greatest Showman star was reportedly picked up from his home in Byron Bay by a limousine, before being driven to the airport for a flight.

He was accompanied by a male friend, but there was no sign of his girlfriend, Byron Bay waitress Vanessa Valladares.

On Friday, Stan announced Zac was attached to the film, which will also star Australian actors Anthony Hayes and Susie Porter. 

According to a report by Inside Film on Friday, Zac has taken over from Sam Worthington, who was originally slated to star in the movie.

In addition to starring, Anthony, 43, co-wrote the film and will also direct, and told Inside Film he was thrilled to have Zac sign on.

‘To have Zac Efron as my main man on this film is an absolute gift, and to see what he is creating already is like nothing we’ve seen from him before,’ he said. 

‘I can’t wait to deliver this bold, visceral and cinematic film to audiences all around the world.’

The movie will be filmed in South Australia, and is scheduled to screen in cinemas before streaming on Stan sometime next year.

Gold tells the story of two drifters who stumble across the biggest gold nugget ever found while exploring the outback.

One man leaves to secure the necessary equipment needed to extract it, while the other man stays behind to keep watch, leading to a terrifying experience as he battles wolves, intruders and the harsh climate.

Zac has been residing in Byron Bay since March amid the coronavirus pandemic, and is even rumoured to be considering a permanent move to the area.
