Jordan Banjo to host new weight loss show after shedding more than SEVEN STONE

Jordan Banjo will host a new weight loss show on Channel 4 in 2021 after shedding more than seven stone since 2009.

The Diversity star, 27, will present Lose Weight Like Me with This Morning’s Dr Sara Kayat.

The new show will see two people who want to overhaul their lifestyle as they seek advice from four ‘health heroes’, who have lost more than 200lbs through exercise and diet.

Hiding behind old pictures of what they looked like before their weight loss, the guests will only get to meet the ‘health heroes’ if they pick them as a mentor.

Once selected, the two will work together to follow their exercise and diet plan alongside a leading dietician.

After eight weeks, the two contributors will show off their results to Jordan and Dr Sara.

Talking about the new show, Sean Doyle, Deputy Head of Features & Formats at Channel 4, said: ‘I’m delighted to welcome Jordan and Dr Sara to the Channel 4 Features Family.

‘As someone who has made dramatic changes to his own health, we are thrilled to have Jordan Banjo at the helm of this pilot.’

Since 2009, Jordan has lost more than seven stone after he was left feeling ‘unhappy’ and ‘self-conscious’ about his 21st weight.

Writing a heartfelt statement to Instagram in 2016, the dancer turned presenter reflected on his weight loss journey and credited brother Ashley Banjo for helping him.

He wrote: ‘In my opinion guys it’s not about how low the number on the scales is, holiday bods or trying to be ‘shredded’ obviously those things are nice things to achieve but they should always be things you pick up on the way to the goal of just being HEALTHY!

‘I was lucky enough to have my brother @ashleybanjogram guide me and show me a better way to live in terms of health and happiness.

‘I wasn’t happy weighing 21stone and feeling self conscious but only YOU can be the one to get up and go, to make the decision to make big changes whether it’s about something like weight loss or even all the way to something like your career.

‘You’re the one who genuinely has the power to get up and make a positive change to yourself anyways enough poor motivational speaking from me.’

He added: ‘To sum it up obviously enjoy whatever foods, drinks and lifestyle you want but everything should come in moderation because health is always key.’

Jordan’s mother also spoke about his weight loss during an interview in 2016 where she revealed he worked hard to get his ripped body after school bullies drove him to pile on the pounds as a young teenager.

According to his mother, the dancer made the decision to shed seven stone after Diversity won Britain’s Got Talent in 2009.

Speaking to The Mirror, Danielle said: ‘Jordan has lost seven stone, he looks completely different to what he did before. He’s confident and funny but he suffered with his weight. When he was with the group, he blended in and no one realised how big he was.

‘He doesn’t think he’s good-looking. From 12 to 16 he put the weight on, he was the only mixed kid in school and got bullied, so he would comfort eat. It was psychological bullying, name-calling, horrible stuff.

‘We had to tell him to calm down. Now he is fine, he’s got it under control and has found that balance.’
