Helicopter crashes down in Scottish Highlands field as emergency crews race to scene

A helicopter has crashed in a field in the Scottish Highlands.

Emergency services are on the scene after the aircraft crashed near the fishing village of Avoch, on the Black Isle, around 12 miles north of Inverness, earlier this afternoon. 

Police Scotland said they were called to reports of a light aircraft coming down in a field.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said four rescue vehicles were sent after they were called at around 12.55pm. They remain at the scene of the crash.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: ‘We were called to reports a light aircraft had come down in a field near Avoch.

‘Emergency services are at the scene.’ 

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: ‘We were alerted at 12.55pm on Thursday, November 12 to an incident involving a helicopter between Inverness and Fortrose, Highland.

‘Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene to assist emergency services partners and we remain in attendance.’
