Erin Holland has come a long way since she first burst onto the scene back in 2013 to be crowned Miss World Australia.

And on Wednesday, the 31-year-old actress, model and presenter reflected on her success as she celebrated being named the host of Tia Maria’s new podcast series, called One of a Kind

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, Erin candidly remarked: ‘The little kid from Cairns never thought she’d be able to make it work in Sydney.’

After moving from Queensland to NSW to study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music after high school, with dreams of making it onto Broadway, Erin has gone on to have a successful career and now is a cricket commentator for Channel Seven.

Erin has also appeared in the show The Secret Daughter and recently stripped off for charity on The All New Monty: Guys and Girls.

‘Its a strange one, it’s not what I ever thought I would be doing,’ she said about her career.

‘But what I’ve found myself doing is so much more intellectually stimulating for me, I love the challenge of live TV and what presenting affords me.’

‘I can’t believe that now, seven years on, I’m still working and able to support myself in the industry I always wanted to be in.’

She said that she’s ‘so appreciative’ of all the opportunities that have come her way.

‘Getting to pay my rent and do the thing I love to do for work is always the goal and I’m so appreciative of every opportunity that comes. The little kid from Cairns never thought she’d be able to make it work in Sydney.’

While she said there will be ‘sacrifices and stresses’ in every industry, she’s grateful.

‘I think you always have to be really appreciative and aware it’s not always forever, and you have to be innovative and work really hard.’

Erin is the host of the new One of a Kind Tia Maria podcast, that dives into the stories of some ‘one of a kind’ guests.

One guest is singer and author Suzan Mutesi, and Alexander Porter, a man whose world was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with leukemia at just 20 years old.

‘I love the idea, they didn’t want to interview the stock standard in the entertainment industry, but talk to people from the huge array and walks of life who have interesting and one of kind stories,’ Erin said.

She said she’s enjoyed learning some new skills as host and is thrilled to be an interviewer for a change, rather than the talent.

‘For me, transitioning from being the talent who gets asked the questions to actually being the interviewer has been a big change,’ Erin said.

She added: ‘And learning how to say enough in less words is something I’ve learned.’

One of a Kind is available to be streamed on Apple and Spotify.
