Discussing his mental health battle, Tyson said: ‘It got pretty bad. I attempted suicide. I didn’t want to live.

‘I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. With mental health, it’s not a disability that you can see. It was pretty dark days. When you don’t want to live anymore, that’s as dark as it could possibly be.

‘I was out in Halloween in 2017 and had a moment of sanity. I looked around me and all I could see was young people, college people, thinking these guys are at the beginning of their careers.’

‘I’m in the middle of mine and I’ve nearly ended it all. I remember coming home that night in a skeleton suit and I just got on my knees and started praying. The next morning I started to train.

‘I thought if I’m ever going to get well, I need to train again. Change habits and change my way of thinking. It took me around 18 months to start feeling right again.

‘From waking up everyday wanting to die to now loving life and back being a good father and husband. I’m no one special, I’m just a normal person. But if I can transform my mind to get back to being heavyweight champion of the world, then anybody can.
