The Bachelorette: Tayshia Adams enjoys ‘magical’ date with Brendan Morais after joining mid-season

Tayshia Adams after stepping in as a mid-season replacement enjoyed a ‘magical’ date on Tuesday’s episode of The Bachelorette and may have found her husband.

The 30-year-old reality star went on a one-on-one date with Brendan Morais, 30, and opened up about her divorce after he admitted to being previously married.

The discussion brought them closer together, and they kissed as fireworks exploded overhead.

‘Kissing Brendan feels like I’m kissing my person,’ Tayshia said. ‘I feel I could marry him. Which is so bizarre. I don’t think I’ve felt this way ever.’

‘Today is just really magical,’ she mused. ‘I finally feel like I’m the Bachelorette and this is what I’m here for. I know I’m going find the person that I’m truly supposed to be with.’

Earlier that day, Tayshia and Brendan had gone on a solo date, riding horses and swimming at their resort as show host Chris Harrison, 49, handed out margaritas, ice cream, and coconuts.

Over dinner that night, Brendan confessed to Tayshia that he had been married in his early twenties to a high-school sweetheart, but they fell out of love and divorced.

There was not much more to it, he added, yet it had left him with the feeling that he had failed. He later discovered that his ex hadn’t wanted kids, and it was all he wanted.

‘I’m actually a little more understanding than you think,’ Tayshia replied. ‘And that’s because I actually got married at a young age, too.’

Tayshia had spoken about her 2017 divorce from Josh Bourelle on the 23rd season of The Bachelor, and dove deeper into the details with Brendan.

‘I married a guy I met in college,’ she shared, noting that like Brendan she had lost her whole identity in the marriage, ‘But there was infidelity and other issues. Not on my part.’

Tayshia said that when she got divorced, she felt embarrassed and ashamed, like she had failed. She worried that her parents and friends would be upset.

‘We have a lot more in common than I thought,’ Brendan said, exhaling. ‘I can breathe a little bit and know that you’re not gonna kick me out the door right away.’

‘I was nervous to tell YOU!’ Tayshia shared.

‘Cheers to being exactly where we should be,’ Brendan affirmed, as they clinked glasses.

In a private moment, Tayshia reflected, ‘Divorce is a really big deal. I thought I was dying when I was going through it. It was really therapeutic to hear him saying all the words that my heart has felt the past two years. I felt like I wasn’t alone. We just kind of bonded on a different level.’

As the date ended, Tayshia told Brendan she wanted five kids, and he said it didn’t scare him.

She gave him her date rose, saying, ‘I’m so happy that you were able to open up to me and feel comfortable enough to just let me in. The fact that we were actually able to bond on it means so much to me.’

‘I’m on Cloud Nine right now,’ Brendan told the cameras. ‘This is certainly the best date of my entire life, the best day of my entire life.’

When the show began, Tayshia was just meeting the 16 bachelors who’d been left behind by Clare Crawley, 39, the season’s original Bachelorette, who found love with Dale Moss, 31.

All of the men seemed thrilled to meet Tayshia, with Zac Clark, 36, observing, ‘You’ve never seen jaws drop, like, ”Duhhh!” I’m like, ”Alright, this is going to be good”.’

Tayshia raised her champagne glass to toast the men, equally excited and engaged.

‘I’m Tayshia, and I’m here for all of you,’ she said. ‘If you could have told me a week ago that I was going to be right here sitting in front of all of this? I would have been like, ”There’s no way!” I cannot share my gratitude enough, and thank you guys for staying here.’

She told them she knew they had been through a lot, and confessed that she was nervous, but urged them all to ‘lean in’ to the experience and said she would, too.

The men buzzed eagerly, asking her to talk with them outdoors so they could get to know her.

‘You can’t deny the beauty,’ Riley Christian, 30, noted. ‘You can’t deny the energy she gives off.’

‘I like her way more than Clare already,’ added Ivan Hall, 28. ‘I can say that honestly right now. I’m way more attracted to her. This gave me new life.’

Blake Moynar, 29, also felt rejuvenated, saying, ‘I’m very relieved. This feels way more real in just one interaction with Tayshia than it was in four interactions with Clare.’

When Tayshia first spoke to Brendan, they were interrupted by Chris.

‘I know you’re having a great night,’ he said, ‘but I do have to tell you, everything is about to change.’

He led her out to an approaching limo, and told her that he had more men waiting for her.

Out of the limo stepped Spencer Robertson, 30, a water treatment engineer from La Jolla, California, about whom Tayshia said, ‘He’s hot. Hot, hot, hot, hot.’

Spencer walked into the resort and said, ‘So which one of you guys scared away Clare?’

Kenny Braasch, 39, said privately, ‘If I had a d*** first impression, I’d give it to Spencer.’

Next out of the limo were Montel Hill, a 30-year-old gym owner from Boston, Peter Giannikopoulos, a 32-year-old real-estate agent from Framingham, Massachusetts, and Noah Erb, a 25-year-old travel nurse from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

‘There was a stanky-a** energy in the room, because there was a sense of pride among these 16 guys,’ Zac told the cameras.

Spencer grabbed Tayshia first and the two went off to talk, with Tayshia admitting he was the type she liked.

She enjoyed speaking to the rest of the men, too —throwing coins in the fountain with one, playing cornhole with another and slow-dancing with a third.

‘I am having truly the best night one I think I could have ever dreamt for,’ Tayshia said, before kissing Spencer and giving him a rose.

‘I feel like the love of my life is definitely in this room,’ she acknowledged, before canceling the rose ceremony to hang out with everyone.

As she did so, the show segued into a conversation between Chris, former Bachelorette Clare and her new fiancé Dale.

The couple had been living together since their engagement, and were still glowing with love.

Clare said she felt like it was ‘a dream come true,’ and Dale said that when he first saw her on the show, it was ‘love at first sight.’

‘At the base of everything with her, in its truest form, we love each other,’ Dale marveled. ‘It was undeniable.’

They had both been looking for the same things, they said, acknowledging how important it was that the other person ‘showed up’ for them at key moments in their lives.

In one example, Clare said that the previous night, she had experienced ‘the worst anxiety,’ and Dale took her hand, and paced with her around her pool.

‘I know without a shadow of a doubt that this is all my Dad ever wanted for me,’ Clare emphasized, recalling her late father’s dying hope that she be okay.

Faced with skepticism from viewers, Clare said, ‘That’s the thing people don’t understand: This has never happened in the past because this whole season has never happened in the past.’

Chris clarified that the show had been delayed four months by concerns about coronavirus, giving Clare ample time to read Dale’s social media.

She pointed out that at age 39, she knew what she wanted and immediately recognized it in Dale, saying she felt ‘sunbeams in my heart’ with him.

Back at the resort, Tayshia went on her first group date with 10 guys, joining them in the pool and watching as they played ‘splashball’ to win time with her.

During the game, Spencer aggressively grabbed for the ball, and Riley blocked him hard with the back of his arm, cutting his lip.

Spencer’s team won anyway, and enjoyed a barbecue dinner and open bar with Tayshia.

During the evening, Tayshia kissed Zac, and shared a real connection with Uzoma ‘Eazy’ Nwachukwu, 30, who ultimately earned her date rose.

When the men were alone, Riley joked that Spencer had cracked his ribs, and Spencer said Riley knew where to go for more.

‘Don’t take this the wrong way,’ Kenny shared. ‘You kind of come off like a d***.’

‘I’m not going out of my way to make enemies with anybody,’ Spencer protested. ‘But I’m going to be true to the reason why I’m here. Tayshia is a primary objective.’

Riley told Spencer that in his rough neighborhood, they would call a guy like him ‘lunchmeat,’ adding, ‘If you wanna f*** with me, we can go.’

After the date, the guys spoke to Jason Foster, 31, who confessed he had fallen for Clare and couldn’t put his ‘whole heart’ into someone new.

‘It’s crazy how impactful those moments we did spend together were,’ he admitted to the cameras, before bidding Tayshia goodbye.

Tayshia urged him not to give up because it didn’t work out with Clare, but she accepted that he couldn’t do it, and they amicably parted ways.

The Bachelorette will return next week on ABC.
