Ranvir Singh has admitted her success on Strictly Come Dancing has been ‘overwhelming’ after she topped the leaderboard on Saturday’s show.

The TV presenter, 43, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Monday and credited her dance partner Giovanni Pernice for pushing her to do her best.

Speaking about scoring 27 out of 30, Ranvir said: ‘It was a total shock, I wasn’t expecting that at all.

‘It doesn’t seem realistic to me. The people who get nines are always amazing. How did I get nines? It’s mad!’

Piers Morgan suggested Ranvir could be the first Good Morning Britain star to take home the glitterball trophy after Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins both took part in previous series. 

Ranvir played down her recent success and insisted: ‘It’s only week four, let’s hold our horses!’ 

The TV host added that Giovanni, 30, has been pushing her to try her hardest, saying: ‘It’s down to Giovanni, he pushes me really hard. It’s quite overwhelming really.

‘I’m doing my best and he says, “I want more from you”. He always wants a little bit more. I’ve nothing to compare it to but I’m just trying my hardest.’

Ranvir also discussed her next dance, saying: ‘It’s Cha-cha-cha today. I just stopped off to get some blister plasters, that’s what I’m going to need.’

Piers responded: ‘Excitement is mounting in GMB studios we might have someone who can win this damn thing.’

Ranvir insisted she will try to do the show proud, saying: ‘I’ll work hard, I’ll keep working hard.’

During Saturday’s show, Ranvir and Giovanni soared to the top of the leaderboard after stunning with an incredible Foxtrot to a Jennifer Hudson hit from Dreamgirls, earning them the highest score of the series so far. 

Shirley Ballas said: ‘It’s our Movie star looking couple for sure, beautiful frame, you just displayed this, so simple but so beautiful. I just love quality. When I see quality I get so excited and that’s exactly what I saw with you.’ 

Motsi Mabuse added: ‘Can we just declare this National foxtrot day! From one to the next and beautiful and you two compliment each other so well.

‘I see a lady, I see a man, it takes time to show that quality. I just forget the technique because you are the dance.’ 

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am to 9am.
