Strictly fans left confused after Maisie Smith dances as Frozen’s Elsa in a pink gown

‘My daughters are livid!’: Strictly fans are left baffled as Maisie Smith wears a PINK gown to perform as Frozen’s Elsa in Movie Week

Strictly Come Dancing fans were baffled by Maisie Smith’s pink gown as she danced to a song from Frozen 2 during Movie Week.

The EastEnders star, 19, wore the beautiful dress while playing the ice Queen Elsa, despite the character traditionally wearing blue in the film.

Maisie and her partner Gorka Marquez set the bar high early on in the show with the stunning routine to the song Into The Unknown, earning another respectable score.

The actress channelled her inner princess with the beautiful routine as she and Gorka danced the American Smooth in the beautiful winter setting.

Fans took to Twitter to express their confusion over the colour of Maisie’s gown, with many saying she ‘looked more like Rapunzel’.

One user said: ‘Okay but why is Maisie’s dress pink on Strictly? Last time I saw Frozen I’m sure Elsa has a blue dress #StrictlyComeDancing’

Another wrote: ‘Look I know the election news is big and great. But Maisie on Strictly has danced as “Elsa” to “Into The Unknown” in a purple dress and I don’t think enough people are talking about that. Shocking. #StrictlyComeDancing’

A third commented: ‘WHY IS MAISIE IN PINK IF SHES ELSA. HELLO???? #strictly Sorry this is such a small detail but omg’

Another user added: ‘So why is Maisie from Strictly wearing a pink dress and supposedly Elsa from Frozen 2? Surely blue would be more appropriate or white since in Frozen 2 her dress is white. Also pretty sure Elsa doesn’t have a plait in the 2nd film…? #Strictly #BBCStrictly #frozen #wtf’

One mum tweeted: ‘My daughters are livid Maisie is in pink as Elsa! #Strictly’

Despite earning plenty of applause from their co-stars, the judges reminded Maisie to focus on her footwork, earning a score of 24 points out of 30.

Motsi Mabuse said: ‘You were softer more subtle in the way you moved, I feel like we saw two different dances but they went so well together. You took a step up yourself and I loved it.’

Shirley Ballas added: ‘You have to work on your feet, we can see here. If you pick things up easy spend that little bit of extra time on your footwork and it will take you where you need to go.’

Strictly returned to screens on Saturday without a live audience for the first time in its 16-year history.

Following news that the UK would be plunged into a month-long lockdown, bosses confirmed earlier this week that the show would continue behind closed doors.
