Lisa Wilkinson shared an emotional tribute to the late Jeanne Little on Sunday evening, after news of the TV icon’s death was announced on Saturday. 

Speaking on The Sunday Project, Lisa, who worked with Jeanne on the 1990s panel show Beauty and the Beast, emotionally called her a ‘sweetheart’. 

The 60-year-old said: ‘She was such a sweetheart, Jeannie. I was lucky enough to work with her on Beauty and the Beast.

‘She was a gorgeous woman. She was gracious. She was kind to somebody who was brand new to television.

‘And she was best known as being able to take a whole stack of green garbage bags and turn them into amazing fashion,’ Lisa said. 

Lisa added that Jeanne’s big personality was ‘no different’ off screen, revealing: ‘That was one of the many things we loved about her.  

She also showed a photo of the pair together on the set of Beauty and the Beast in 1998.

Gold Logie winner Jeanne Mitchell, better known as Jeannie Little, died at the age of 82 this weekend. 

The TV personality’s daughter, Katie, announced the heartbreaking news on Saturday evening. 

‘My mother has left the earthly plane,’ she wrote on Facebook, alongside a photo of her as a young child sitting on her mother’s lap.

‘This is a huge shock – but I’m so grateful. Love you all my friends.’ 

Little made her television debut on The Mike Walsh Show in 1974 and won a Gold Logie for the most popular TV personality in 1976.  

She also coined the popular phrase, ‘hello darling’.   

The beloved entertainer retired from the spotlight after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2009.
