In more recent years, the Eagle Eye actor has made strides into writing, and garnered widespread critical acclaim with his 2019 semi-autobiographical film Honey Boy.

The film depicts an allegorical version of the early days of LaBeouf’s career and his relationship with his father, a Vietnam War veteran.

LaBeouf was also recently charged for misdemeanor battery and petty theft; the prosecutors allege that in early June the actor got into a fight with a man named Tyler Murphy and stole Murphy’s hat.

The writer has had several past run-ins with the law, including a 2017 arrest for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct in New York; he was sent to court-ordered rehabilitation.
