Lotto numbers people pick most are revealed as multiples of seven

Lotto numbers people pick most are revealed as multiples of seven… but the sequence is yet to be drawn

  • For the first time, organisers revealed most popular numbers picked by players
  • Said most favoured combination involved multiples of seven: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42
  • But despite fortuitous charms of number seven, this sequence is yet to be drawn

At the end of the day it’s down to Lady Luck, but it seems many Lotto players share the same belief in the good fortunes of the number seven.

For the first time, organisers have revealed the most popular numbers picked by players.

And they found the most favoured combination involved multiples of seven – 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42.

But despite the supposed fortuitous charms of the number seven, this sequence is yet to be drawn.

Multiples of five were the second most popular combination, the National Lottery revealed.

Other popular picks were ‘all the 7s’ – 7, 17, 27, 37, 47, 57 – and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

However, the third favourite combination is a reference to the US TV series Lost – in which one character, Hurley, had won a lottery jackpot of $114million with the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42.

The data was examined from the Lotto draw on October 31 but is typical of others. The figures have been released ahead of the £20million ‘must be won’ jackpot draw today.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at the National Lottery, said, ‘The secret is finally out, Lotto players have been fans of picking the number seven when choosing their own numbers.

‘It would be amazing if they were to be drawn, with potentially hundreds of jackpot winners.

‘Good luck, whatever your lucky numbers are, in Saturday’s Lotto draw. Remember that £20 million jackpot must be won.’
