Don’t Rock The Boat: Fleur East fights back tears after the red team WIN following a tense final race… as she dedicates the victory to her late father

The singer, 33, dedicated the victory to her late father Max as the Red Team were awarded with the golden oar after rowing the length of Great Britain.

Despite the Blue Team making up a huge amount of ground in the last leg of the race, it didn’t prove to be enough as the Reds rowed to victory after leading from the start.

After the blue team – consisting of Lucy Fallon, Shawn Wallace, Joe Weller, Denise Lewis, Kimberley Wyatt and Jack Fincham – succeeded in the land challenge, it meant they had a much-needed advantage for the last leg of the boat race.

It meant the Blues got to choose which two members of the red team would row the first part of the final leg, with each pair rowing for seven miles to complete the final leg.

Despite the blues managing to win the final leg of the race, it was the Red Team – which was made up of Fleur, Jodie Kidd, Victoria Pendleton, Tom Watson, Craig Charles and Adam Thomas – that came out on top.

After winning by one hour and 22 minutes, Fleur couldn’t contain her emotions as she admitted the victory was dedicated to her father, who passed away earlier this year.

She told hosts AJ Odudu and Freddie Flintoff: ‘This is honestly so incredible this year has been the lowest year of my life.

‘I was rowing for my dad and every stroke was for him so honestly it wasn’t about this race and honestly it means so much for me.’
