Adele ‘returns to London ahead of the second lockdown to complete work on her fourth album’

Adele has reportedly returned to London from the US ahead of the second lockdown to complete work on her fourth studio album.

The singer, 32, who has been residing in LA since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, was reportedly seen meeting a friend at the Chiltern Firehouse in the capital earlier this week.

Last month Adele, who wowed viewers with a hosting stint on Saturday Night Live, shut down rumours musician Skepta was her ‘love interest’ by insisting she was a ‘(single) cat lady’

According to The Sun on Sunday, Adele chose to move back to London so she could focus on completing her fourth album, which is now expected to be released next year.

A source told the publication: ‘Adele wants to lay low while she’s here, which is easy with shades and a face mask.

‘People don’t recognise her like they used to anyway. She’s not been able to release new music yet and she’s totally focused on that and getting each track just right.’

‘She still has a network of people she works with and links up with when she is over here.’

It’s thought that Adele is legally exempt from the government’s guidelines ordering those returning to the US to self-isolate for two weeks. 

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Adele for comment.

In September MailOnline exclusively revealed that Adele had briefly returned to the capital from her £7.7m Beverly Hills home after spending the day at a virtual reality centre in East London with Skepta.

Insiders said: ‘We were asked to move from the lounge because a VIP was arriving. I couldn’t believe it when Adele just walked in with Skepta and Jammer…

‘After doing the VR I saw her chatting to people and putting her boots back on. She seemed really down to earth. They were screaming and laughing when they were doing the VR together, I could hear her from the other end of the venue…

‘It looked like they had a lot of fun together.’

Last month Adele, who has also wowed fans with her seven-stone weight loss, shut down rumours that she and Skepta were dating, as she took to Instagram followed her much-lauded hosting stint on SNL.

Alongside a photograph of herself on the show, the Hello songstress first praised all those involved in her successful hosting gig, before ensuring she not-so-subtly confirmed her relationship status. 

Adele wrote: ‘Had the best time on SNL! Thank you to the most wonderful cast, crew, writers and producers. What a sublime bunch of people you are. Lorne thank you for believing in me!

‘Lindsay my sister for life, Maya my comedy and Mama hero! Plus the so up for it audiences at both the dress rehearsal and live show!

‘I did it for the joy of it and I hope you got some from it too! Good luck with the election America I love you so much. Look after each other and go easy on yourselves. Happy Halloween!

‘I’m going back to my cave now to be the (single) cat lady that I am! Peace out til next year.’

During the hosting stint Adele also admitted she still hadn’t finished her fourth album, telling the audience: ‘My album isn’t finished and I’m too scared to do both. I’d rather just put on some wigs and this is all mine by the way. Have a glass of wine or six and see what happens.’ 

In August Adele also admitted she had ‘no idea’ when her next album would be released, after responding to a comment posted by a fan on Instagram.

As the fan asked: ‘Adele where’s the album?’ she replied: ‘I honestly have no idea!’
