This Morning’s Ruth Langsford once threatened to break male colleague’s arm after he pinched her bum

She’s one of the most-loved female presenters on British television. 

And, Ruth Langsford, 60, has revealed that she once threatened violence after a male colleague pinched her bum while she was carrying a tray of tea, on a TV set. 

The This Morning host was discussing her experiences of sexism within the working world when she opened up about the inappropriate touching, of which she was a victim.

Speaking to Kate Thornton on her White Wine Question Time podcast, Ruth explained how she dealt with the sexual harassment. 

She said: ‘I remember years ago when I had to take these big trays of tea around at certain times in the day for the VT engineers… it was all men. 

‘We had a little kitchenette and for some reason it was deemed to be my job as a woman. I remember taking this tray round and a guy pinched my ass.

‘I put the tray down, I slapped his tea down, and said: ‘If you ever touch me again, I’ll break your f***ing arm.”

Ruth – who’s married to Eamonn Holmes – also admitted her frustration over women being labelled ‘bossy.’

She said: ‘You’d never call a man bossy. I mean if you were a guy and the editor of a magazine, they’d go “he’s so dynamic and young and amazing.”

‘Why is it like: “She’s really bossy and annoying.” I think women have had to fight that and to some extent, still do. It will keep changing.’ 

Ruth’s candid remarks came weeks after she joked her face ‘needs a lot of work’ as she got ready to do her make-up ahead of an episode of This Morning.

The presenter has been doing her own make-up since lockdown began, after extra staff were reduced from the studios to try to prevent the risk of coronavirus. 

Ruth took to Instagram to chat about what was in store on the show as sat with rollers in her hair in her dressing room.  

Reports recently emerged claiming that Ruth and her husband Eamonn are concerned they could lose their presenting jobs on This Morning as ITV tries to diversify its shows. 

The couple, who present the show on Fridays and cover Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby‘s holidays, are said to be awaiting the results of an internal poll to hear about their fate, reports The Sun.

A source has said: ‘Eamonn fears he is basically too “pale, stale and male”, and, at 60, perhaps not in line with the youth drive broadcasters are after.’
