Masked thugs punched a 79-year-old man and threw him into the ground in a raid on his house hunting for the keys to his Mercedes parked outside.  

Shocking CCTV footage captures the three yobs attacking the elderly man in his own home in Stourbridge, West Midlands during a terrifying burglary.

The video shows the moment the three burglars burst into the property of the pensioner after smashing through the back door at 1.30am on Tuesday, November 3.

The 79-year-old victim can be seen in his dressing gown and pyjamas as he confronts the intruders in his living room in Stourbridge, West Midlands.

He is then punched and shoved to the ground by the yobs as they make their way through the house looking for his car keys before fleeing empty-handed.

West Midlands Police has now shared the harrowing footage in a bid to track down the trio of cowardly thugs and urged anyone with information to get in touch. 

A force spokesperson said: ‘We are appealing for information after intruders forced their way into a pensioner’s house in Stourbridge in the early hours of Tuesday, November 3.

‘A 79-year-old man was awoken just before 1.30am when he heard glass smashing.

‘He went to have a look and was faced with three unknown men in his house.

‘They hit him, but fortunately he didn’t sustain any injuries.

‘We believe the men were trying to find the keys to his Mercedes car parked on his drive, but they left without anything.

‘Detectives investigating the burglary have released video footage from inside his house in a bid to trace the offenders.

‘Please quote crime reference 20DY/268953A/20.’

Responding to the appeal on social media, people expressed anger that a vulnerable pensioner could be targeted in his own home in such a cowardly way.

One woman, Dawn Butcher, wrote: ‘This must have been the stuff of nightmares to be faced by three men in the middle of the night in your own home. Poor fella.’

Another man, Adam Jones added: ‘That would really shake you up. 

‘He must have been terrified, these cowards need taking off the streets and fast.’

Gary Perry expressed his disgust at the attack, calling the thugs ‘scum’. 

‘Targeting a defenceless old man is the lowest you can go,’ he said. 

‘I pray they are caught fast and feel the full force of the law..’
