Kylie Minogue reveals her favourite song she’s ever recorded – and says she knew it was ‘incredible’ the moment she heard the demo

She’s racked up dozens of hit singles during her three decades in the spotlight.

And on Friday, Kylie Minogue revealed that her favourite song she’s ever recorded is the 2001 dancefloor classic Can’t Get You Out of My Head.

The 52-year-old singer told Junkee that she knew there was something ‘incredible’ about the track as soon as she heard a rough demo.

Did you pick it? She’s known worldwide as the Princess of Pop, after releasing smash hits for decades. And on Friday, Kylie Minogue revealed that her hugely popular song, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, is one of the favourites of her career

‘I just had that feeling or that sensation of, “What am I listening to? This is absolutely incredible,”‘ she said.

The song was offered to Sophie Ellis Baxter and S Club 7, before Kylie picked it up.

Can’t Get You Out of My Head, which was released on her album Fever, went on to become one of the defining songs of her career.

It was also a hit in America, where Kylie traditionally hasn’t had much success.

‘Gosh, now that nearly 20 years have passed, it just seems like…it just did so much for me,’ she added.

‘I mean, America is not my market, I’ve had little bursts of so-called success. But with that one, I didn’t have a record company in America and then a DJ played it, and next thing I’ve got a label sending a private jet to get the crew and go and do promotion. So it was just its own juggernaut.’

Kylie has just released her latest album, DISCO, which she recorded during the coronavirus lockdown in Great Britain.

Kylie told Billboard that she had to buy her own equipment and learn how to record vocals at home to complete the album.

‘Lockdown happened, and I had to figure out how to do everything remotely,’ she explained.

‘It was very exciting to get the equipment, fire up my logical-rational brain and find the right place in the house to put it.

‘I was dragging [around] duvets and blankets and clothes racks to make [my lounge room] good for sound.’
