A group of Australian wives have shared the intricate lunches they pack for their husbands that look more like school lunchboxes than grownup creations.

In a light-hearted thread on Facebook, many revealed how their husbands were ‘jealous’ after seeing the ‘yummy’ ingredients in their children’s elaborate and eye-popping boxes.

To make it fair for the family, the super organised mums decided to put together an array of food, including raw or dried fruits, vegetable sticks, cheese cubes, biscuits and nuts for both their husband and their kids.

Another mother said she wanted to teach her husband a lesson after he made fun of her prepared lunchbox for her son. Her husband’s lunchbox now included cherry tomatoes, spinach, flower-shaped cucumbers and capsicum with ‘grumpy’ eyes

‘When he poked fun at our son’s lunchbox, (in good jest) this is what he went to work with the next day so his workmates could poke fun at his lunch in the crib room,’ she said.

‘My husband has asked to have a lunchbox too. One is for our pre-school son, Second is for the husband,’ she said.

‘Husband’s lunch all ready for tomorrow in his new lunch box! A bit bigger than his usual one, so hopefully this stops him from buying extra lunch as well. Lol,’ she said.

One woman said when she started making bento-style lunchboxes for her kids, she asked if her husband wanted one as well.

‘He initially said no and practically scoffed at me. Next minute, he comes home with his very own bento box he bought when he ducked into the shops for something,’ she revealed.

Many thought the creations were hilarious, with dozens joking: ‘Can I be your wife? I want someone packing this for me! Amazing!’

However others admitted they no longer make their husband’s lunches.

‘I don’t make my husband’s lunch anymore. He won’t eat anything healthy He is worse than a picky kid and seems to think he can live off of two minute noodles and meat pies,’ one woman said.
