When quizzed about Nadine, Jason replied: ‘She’s got the moves, she knows exactly how to get through these routines. She’s always been in my corner. Her support has been so special during this time.’

Talking about how their daughter Anaiya loves watching her dad perform on the show, he said: ‘That’s what it’s all about. Just listening to her comment on the dances after it’s over, she does the routines herself.

‘I love her with all my heart and I’m really trying to impress her every time I’m out there.’

Jason and Luba have been busy rehearsing the Pasa Doble to the Star Wars theme tune for movie week.

On Luba being a great teacher, Jason explained: ‘It’s because of her compassion.

‘She cares about our performance out there and really working hard to make sure I know exactly what I’m doing out there. Every time we’re on the dance floor, it is an unbelievable experience.’

He added: ‘This is all new to me and this is what makes it so special for me – every day I’m learning a new skill and I’m going out there and facing my fears and trying to do my best.’

Luba told Lorraine: ‘It’s such a joy to see him go from no experience whatsoever to improve himself to learn new skills, to work so hard.

‘He’s the best student, he even serenades me… I think he’s better at dancing.’

On not having an audience in the studio, Luba revealed: ‘We always have the other couples to support us while we’re dancing… we’re all cheering for each other and we’re all really supportive.’

Last week, Jacqui Smith was the first celebrity to be eliminated from the competition after losing to Jamie Laing in the dance off.

ITV’s Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am.
