‘The honeymoon period is over’: Strictly’s Caroline Quentin admits she had her first ‘barney’ with Johannes Radebe as the pair locked horns during rehearsals

Strictly Come Dancing‘s Caroline Quentin has admitted she had her first ‘barney’ with her professional partner Johannes Radebe.

The pair had been getting along famously during rehearsals until Caroline, 60, tried to make suggestions about the moves Johannes, 33, is teaching her.

Speaking on Thursday’s episode of This Morning, she said: ‘We had our first barney yesterday. It’s hard to be taught by someone who is always right.

Squabble: Strictly Come Dancing’s Caroline Quentin has admitted she had her first ‘barney’ with her professional partner Johannes Radebe

‘I told him something and rather than back down gracefully, I just banged on about it. No I’m right about this!

‘Suddenly I realised I was entirely wrong. I think the honeymoon period is over. I’ve got to learn to be quiet.’

Caroline told how she dreamed of becoming a ballerina as a child so taking part in Strictly is a dream come true.

She said: ‘I was obsessed with it. Ballet was my life and my dream and it didn’t happen for various reasons. I wasn’t good enough, tall enough, my body wasn’t quite right for it.

‘Suddenly now I’m having that joy of dancing with a partner. I’m doing lifts with a partner and I get the person who is best at lifts! I simply worship him.’

Caroline and Johannes have impressed the judges so far, scoring 21 in both week one and week two.

Speaking of Caroline’s skills on the dancefloor, Johannes said: ‘I was surprised about the score, I thought we’d score 5.

‘It’s a testament to how hard she’s worked. She’s a fantastic student, she’s a very strong-headed woman but takes direction so well. I’ve been enjoying my time with her.’

With the new national lockdown, rules on the Strictly set will be stricter than ever, with Caroline admitting her family won’t be able to come and watch her this Saturday.

She said: ‘No, my husband and my kids aren’t coming. That said, we are super aware as a team of our audience.

‘I’m hoping we’ll be able to look down the lens of the camera for the millions of people that watch the show.

‘We’re hoping it’s going to be super entertaining given the week the world has had.’

It comes after Caroline shared a hilarious glimpse at her gruelling training regime, as she pleaded for it to ‘stop’ in a playful Instagram video.

The actress shared the amusing video after another difficult day practising the dance, while Johannes also shared a snap of his exhausted celebrity partner joking he’s ‘killed her.’
