Pregnant Kate Ferdinand admits she’s been ‘struggling’ during her third trimester

She is expecting her first child with her former footballer husband Rio Ferdinand.

And Kate Ferdinand gave fans a candid glimpse into her pregnancy journey on Wednesday night in an honest Q&A session on Instagram.

The former TOWIE star, 29, admitted that she has been ‘struggling’ during her third trimester and is finding her ongoing back pain ‘very draining’.

Kate also shared a throwback holiday snap, where she was swimming in the sea, as she reflected on the happy and ‘stress-free’ memory. 

She penned: ‘One of my favourite days of this year, out at sea with the family …. no worries, happy & stress free #specialmemories.’  

Elsewhere, after a fan asked how she was feeling, Kate explained: ‘The third trimester and especially the last 2/3 weeks I’ve been struggling a little.

‘I have up and down days but just generally having a huge lack of sleep so feeling very tired and finding the back pain very draining.’

Although Kate added: ‘Apart from that, I am good though, excited for baby to arrive.’

The star was also asked what exercises she has been doing during her pregnancy, to which she revealed she had been having three sessions a week, Pilates and pre-natal gym sessions.

Kate added: ‘I normally do a lot of walking and this is something I’m really missing since my back has got a lot worse. I can only walk for 15/20 minutes… I can’t wait to get back to walking post pregnancy it really clears my mind.’

Elsewhere, one follower asked the former reality show how she felt about being a first time mum as well as being a stepmother already to Rio’s three children – Lorenz, 14, Tate, 12, and nine-year-old Tia.

Kate said she was ‘excited’ but ‘nervous’ at the prospect of juggling four children at the same time.

She said: ‘I’m excited but nervous the kids are so excited and that makes it extra special. We are all in this little journey together.

‘I feel like a “mum” already but have never experiences having a baby or newborn so the thought of having to juggle that with three big kids is overwhelming at times.’

She added: ‘I’m a huge worrier but once I’m in a situation I do just get on with it so I’m sure it will all be fine – just the thought of four kids is crazy.’

Kate quipped: ‘Plus I have three helpers… let’s see if I can get them changing nappies!’

It comes after the star admitted that she was feeling ‘very overwhelmed’ as she told how she was suffering from ‘bad anxiety’ in a candid Instagram story in October. 

The former The Only Way Is Essex star explained although she feels ‘grateful’ for her pregnancy, she is struggling with fatigue after failing to get a good night’s sleep in her third trimester.

Kate displayed her baby bump in a black puff-sleeved top with matching trousers, as she captured a selfie from the hallway of her lavish home.  

The reality star opened up about her current struggles as the said: ‘Managed to get myself together (sort of) after a few very sleepless nights…

‘Thank you to all the mums and mums to be who have sent me messages over the last few days- being pregnant for the first time can feel overwhelming at times [so] it’s nice to have advice and support from others.

‘I’m suffering with quite bad anxiety at the minute I’m feeling very overwhelmed…

‘So grateful to be pregnant and have 3 beautiful kids in my life but in all honesty I’m exhausted and half term is taking it out of me,’ accompanied by a sad face emoji. 

In another honest Instagram snap, Kate described feeling like a ‘zombie’. 

Posting alongside a quote which read ‘My mind has too many tabs open’, she wrote on her Instagram story: ‘Another sleepless night. Is this a pregnancy thing?! My sleep has been so bad recently I feel like a zombie.’

Kate also confirmed that she is ‘taking it easy’ during her pregnancy and has slowed down her exercise regime so she doesn’t overexert her body. 

She said: ‘We go for walks with the family, stuff like that, it doesn’t always have to be crazy exercise just as long as you’re moving more than you’re sitting, you still feel good… 

‘I think you have to be really careful, take advice from professionals. I definitely don’t think it can stay the same, it has definitely changed. I’m working out at a much slower pace and taking it easy, listening to my body really.’ 

Kate said she is also taking frequent breaks from social media so that she can spend quality time with husband Rio, 41, and her three stepchildren.

She added: ‘At the moment, I’m a bit quiet on social media, I’m just enjoying my time with the family and things like that before lockdown goes crazy again.’
