Matthew McConaughey turned 50 years old on Wednesday, and he celebrated with the help of a special song from two of his three kids.
The Oscar-winning actor took to both Twitter and Instagram on his birthday to share a video of his kids Livingston, 7, and Vida, 10, singing Happy Birthday to him in their own colorful way.
It seems the special song came at the start of his day, with the actor stating, ‘a beautiful alarm clock I had today’ in his social media posts.

The brief video features several different shots of his two youngest kids cheerfully wishing their father a Happy Birthday.
The Dallas Buyers Club’s oldest child, 12-year-old Levi, was not seen in the video that McConaughey posted.
The one-minute video was watched a whopping 52,000 times on Twitter alone as he celebrated the big 5-0.

McConaughey’s birthday comes as he’s been promoting his new book, Greenlights, which he published last month.
The book is described as, ‘stories, prayers, poems, people and places and a whole bunch of bumper stickers.’
He also recently opened up about his kids, revealing he won’t try to stop them if they try to pursue a career in showbiz.

The Oscar winner has three kids with wife Camila Alves, son Levi, 12, daughter Vida, 10, and son Livingston, 7, revealing that he won’t stand in their way of acting or any other career path.
‘Look, I want them to do whatever it is they’re fashioned to do. Whatever they have an innate ability to do, and are willing to put in the work to get better at it,’ he said.
‘Whatever that is, I want them to do that. If that becomes something in the industry that I’m in? Bravo. I’ve met some of the most wonderful people in my life in my industry, I love what I do. Everybody on a set of a film or a TV show has to be great at their particular job for it to work,’ McConaughey added.

‘I’ve learned that fatherhood is a verb, it’s not just about being half of making the child. It’s the verb of the work you do after your children are born and there’s a great, incredible responsibility and privilege to be in that position,’ he added.
He added fatherhood is his, ‘favorite project I’ve ever worked on is fatherhood and I’m trying to do my best at it.’
