DaBaby pays touching tribute on Instagram to older brother Glen Johnson after he commits suicide

DaBaby posted a public tribute to his older brother Glen Johnson on Instagram on Tuesday after he committed suicide in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Johnson died Tuesday afternoon of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to an article by TMZ.

He earlier posted a video of himself with a gun in a vehicle while clearly upset and crying.

Johnson in the video claimed that he had been wronged repeatedly and sources told TMZ that he shortly later shot himself in the head and died.

Charlotte rapper DaBaby, real name Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, on the bio of his Instagram page posted: ‘LONG LIVE MY BROTHER’ along with a black heart emoji and a white dove emoji.

The 28-year-old rapper also posted photos on Instagram on Tuesday of himself in Charlotte working on bringing voters to the polls as part of his commitment to the #NOCAP2020 project.

He posed in one snap with a mascot and child in front of a bus that was part of his ‘VOTE BABY VOTE’ statewide bus tour to promote voting.

DaBaby accompanied the pictures with just a black heart emoji in the caption for his roughly 14.9 million followers on Instagram.

He previously mentioned his brother’s struggles on his 2019 lead single Intro from his second studio album Kirk, according to Rap-Up.

‘My brother be thinkin’ that we don’t love him and let him struggle like we ain’t family, Like I won’t give up all I got to see you happy,’ he rapped on the track that debuted at number 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100 before peaking at number thirteen on the chart.

Kirk was released in September 2019 and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart.

DaBaby last month was featured in a remix of the hit song Levitating by Dua Lipa, 25.

They also starred in a music video together for the second remix of the single off her sophomore album Future Nostalgia following a remix featuring Madonna and Missy Elliott that was released in August.
