Suranne Jones and Sophie Rungle got back to work on Gentleman Jack’s second season in West Yorkshire on Tuesday.
The Doctor Foster star, 42, and Peaky Blinders actress, 32, were in good spirits as they shot new scenes together for the lesbian drama.
Getting into character, Suranne donned a grey waistcoat over a white shirt and a long black skirt to transform into her character Anne Lister.

Suranne’s wardrobe for the scenes was complete with a tweed scarf that was tied in a knot, while her brunette locks were styled into three buns.
Sophie, meanwhile, became heiress Ann Walker in a pink plaid dress that had puffy sleeves and a billowing skirt to match the clothing of the time.
She wore her blonde locks in elaborate ringlets that were fastened with a chic pin, while she wore a scarf around her waist.
The pair, whose characters married in secret at the end of season one, were seen filming in a garden together, where Suranne gifted Sophie with potted flowers.

Earlier in the day, Suranne was seen wearing a protective visor while getting to work on set of Gentleman Jack’s second season.
The actress was seen getting into character as she donned a black dress to embody the 19th century landowner.
Keeping safe amid the coronavirus crisis, Suranne made sure to wear a face shield in between takes and when she arrived before filming began.

As she arrived on set, Suranne took off her face shield and gave it to a member of the crew so that she could get ready for the day of shooting.
However she made sure to wear it whenever she wasn’t shooting, as an insider said: ‘As soon as she finished the scene she reached for her visor. She is clearly taking no chances.
‘She had one of her staff ready to hand it to her as she walked off set. It was weird watching her put it on while still in 1830s costume.

‘Some people on set are still obviously in a state of shock about the second lockdown. But she was very cheery.’
The source added that Suranne always has ‘a smile on her face’ while working on set, and tries to cheer the cast and crew up between takes.
Other members of the cast could be seen in full period costume as they kept their masks on while waiting for cameras to roll.
The insider added that the cast always keep their masks close to hand so that they can put them on whenever they’re not filming.

The show, written by Sally Wainwright, is based on the diaries of 19th century landowner Anne Lister, who is often dubbed Britain’s ‘first modern lesbian’.
The first series followed Anne as she embarked on a relationship with fellow heiress Ann Walker, after enjoying several relationships with other women.
After falling in love, the pair were torn apart when Ann was taken to Scotland, under threat of being married off by her brother-in-law.
However the finale saw the pair brought back together when Ann was called back to Yorkshire to visit her bedridden aunt.

Their reunion took place in a dramatic hilltop moment in which Ann revealed she was finally ready to marry Anne.
Anne confessed her continued love for Ann, saying: ‘Do you know I don’t think one hour passed when I didn’t think of you. I tried not to.’
‘If you asked me to marry you again I wouldn’t say No,’ Ann promised. ‘But would you say yes?’ Anne checked quickly.

Taking no chances: The film crew were also seen wearing masks throughout the shoot as they worked hard on set of the BBC drama
‘Yes. I love you,’ the younger girl sighed, touching the heroine’s face. ‘I’m in love with you. I always have been.’
‘Don’t hurt me,’ muttered Lister back, unexpectedly, poignantly. ‘I’m not as strong as you think…Well I am obviously. But sometimes I’m not.’
The second series will follow the couple as Ann moves in with Anne in Shibden Hall – and embarked on their life as wife and wife.
