Delta Goodrem has come under fire after she performed her latest single as part of the Melbourne Cup day coverage on Tuesday. 

The singer belted out Solid Gold live on Channel 10, playing the song with her band at the network’s studios, with the set decorated beautifully with flower walls.

And some fans were up in arms, accusing the 35-year-old of ‘supporting animal abuse’.

One person Tweeted: ‘Is Delta aware how many horses have been killed or died for this barbaric event?’ 

Another person online added: ‘If only she didn’t support the Melbourne Cup :(‘ 

Someone else angrily chimed in: ‘Takes the only gig she can get, supporting abuse of animals. Well done, d**khead.’

One more said: ‘Feeling sick to my stomach watching Delta Goodrem perform and people cheering and celebrating within minutes of yet another horse being horribly injured & killed during the #MelbourneCup’.

Another added a plea to The Voice mentor: ‘Delta Goodrem stop posting about the races it’s animal abuse’. 

Others were more sympathetic, saying that perhaps fans should try and educate the pop star in relation to the issues around horse racing.
