This is the hilarious moment a rooster dressed as a spider left his pen-mates terrified that they were under attack.

The black Silkie-breed chicken, named Elvis, was seen running riot in the yard of a poultry farm after being kitted out with a six-legged halloween costume.

The footage was recorded by Ashlee Grider at her poultry farm in Keller, Texas.

Ashlee, a 4-H club poultry leader, said she was having a project meeting when she decided to have a chicken costume contest with the local kids for fun.

Taking to the internet for inspiration, she couldn’t find many costumes designed for chickens so had to be creative in her approach.

‘I discovered a spider costume made for dogs on Amazon and decided it should fit perfectly on a chicken as well,’ she said.

‘I picked our black Silkie rooster named Elvis to try it on because he has black furry feathers that matched the costume.

Ashlee recorded Elvis as he raced across the yard to see his friends, but the other chickens were left terrified by the six dangly legs on his outfit and chose to run for cover.

‘Elvis didn’t know what to do with the costume on so he started running around the yard and the other chickens were terrified of him.’

‘They ran away from him and were making their danger warning sounds when a predator is around.’

After realising his costume might not be too popular with the other chickens, Elvis was seen sitting himself down in front a cage on his own.
