A year on from falling madly in love and winning the second season of Love Island Australia, Anna McEvoy and Josh Packham have called it quits.
The duo, both aged 27, took to Instagram on Sunday to announce their sad news , telling fans it was the ‘right thing to do’.
‘It is with great sadness that Josh and I are going out separate ways,’ Anna’s post, which was captioned with ‘I’m sorry’, read.

‘I know that so many of you are invested in our relationship but please know we did everything we could to make it work.
‘It’s extremely difficult to break up with someone who you still love but it is the right thing to do,’ she added.
While Anna’s post did not offer a reason why the couple had split, Josh’s shed some light on the situation.

‘We have had an amazing journey but unfortunately sometimes relationships don’t work out and two people grow apart,’ he said in a post on his Instagram Stories.
The news comes a day after Anna was seen celebrating the end of Melbourne’s strict lockdown with a trip to a local eatery to enjoy a cocktail.
It also follows the former couple, who moved in together in June after six months of dating, sharing how Victoria’s strict lockdown had put a strain on their relationship.

‘We’ve definitely stepped on each others toes too much being stuck in an apartment, trapped,’ Josh admitted to fans in a Q&A YouTube video in September when one asked how their relationship was travelling.
‘I’m sure heaps of people feel the same way.
‘Sometimes in a relationship you need a bit of space from one another for it to be healthy, but Covid lockdown does not allow for that.’

Anna added: ‘It’s been good. It’s been testing during COVID’.
While they still have pictures and videos of each other on their Instagram accounts, Anna is not longer following Josh, who still follows her.
He has, however, removed her name and a red heart emoji alongside it from his bio.
Their breakup comes two weeks after they sweetly shared a picture of each other celebrating Josh’s 27th birthday.
