The Block host Scott Cam reveals the open inspections will be held virtually this year for the first time ever

The Block host Scott Cam has confirmed there will be a twist during the open inspections this season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 57-year-old, who says the inspections are his ‘favourite time of year’, revealed on the Today show that they’ll be held virtually next month for the first time in history.

Instead of buyers walking through the house, Scott and co-host Shelley Craft will be taking the public viewers through each room via video link.

‘That was my favourite time of year. Twenty thousand people, lots of kids coming down and seeing the set, and meeting the contestants,’ he said of previous seasons.

‘But we are doing on November 16 a virtual open for inspection, exclusive to 9Now, at 7:30pm kick off,’ he added.

‘Shelley and I are going to take you through every room with the contestants and answer all of those questions that you have.’

Fans are also invited to ‘dress up’ for the occasion, and there will be prizes up for grabs for the best outfits.

‘We’ve only got three weeks to go. Inside, the houses are finished, but we’ve got the backyards and the garages [to do],’ Scott said.

‘We put a lot of things in place to get through [the COVID-19 pandemic]. Contestants had to go home, come back, they went into isolation… so it’s been really tough but the whole country had been doing it though.

‘Victoria has been doing it tough for three months, so ours was tough but not as tough as some.’

It comes after footy WAG Rebecca Judd was ruthlessly trolled on Wednesday after her guest appearance on The Block.

Despite only making a brief cameo as a ‘secret judge’, the mother of four, 37, was skewered by ‘woke’ Twitter because of her perceived conservative beliefs and opposition to Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews’ stage-four lockdown.

The attempt to ‘cancel’ Bec backfired, however, when her supporters blasted the ‘awful’ commentary about her online and accused her critics of simply being jealous.
