Ted Lasso gets an early renewal for Season 3 as Season 2 gets ready to start filming

Hot on the heels of a critically-acclaimed and widely beloved first season, Ted Lasso is getting even more episodes on Apple TV Plus.

The breakout hit series debuted in August, receiving a second-season renewal just before the fourth episode debuted.

Production is now slated to begin on Season 2 this coming January in London, with a third season in the works now as well.

Jason Sudeikis debuted the Ted Lasso character in a series of promos in 2013, to promote NBC Sports carrying the Premier League.

The show follows the same premise as the promos, following Sudeikis’ title character, an American college football coach from Kansas, who had just won an NCAA Division II title for the Wichita State Shockers.

He’s plucked from his relative obscurity in the United States and brought on to coach a Premier League soccer team, despite having no previous soccer coaching experience.

Hannah Waddingham also stars as Rebecca, the new owner of the team who brought Lasso in to shake things up with the mediocre club, though she also has secret ulterior motives at play.

Brendan Hunt, who also co-created the series with Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence and Joe Kelly, plays Lasso’s second-in-command, Coach Beard.

The cast is rounded out by Nick Mohammad as Nathan, Jeremy Swift as Higgins, Phil Dunster as Jamie, Brent Goldstein as Roy and Juno Temple as Keeley.
