The Block’s Luke and Jasmin win praise from the show’s judges

They’ve previously been accused of stealing design ideas when it comes to inspiration for their home.

But there was nothing unoriginal about Luke and Jasmin’s latest renovation project on Tuesday’s episode of The Block. 

A secret door underneath their staircase harboured copious amounts of storage space, a gift from All Star couple El’ise and Matt, who were partnered with the Western Australian couple.

‘Oh my god, this is massive,’ judge Shaynna Blaze declared as she entered the space near underneath the staircase.

It was hidden by a ported timber feature wall, which matched the Oak treads on the stairs and wooden flooring underneath.

Other attributes in the house which blew away the show’s judges included the ‘huge’ laundry space, gold accent powder room and artwork on display.

‘House 4, Luke and Jasmin, have probably the most quintessentially Brighton modern family home of all five,’ judge Darren Palmer said. 

Fellow judge Neale Whitaker added: ‘We’ve stood in spaces today that are larger than this, that feel more generous than this, but I don’t think we’ve stood in any spaces that feel as resolved as this.’

Before wowing the judges with their latest renovation, hosts Scott Cam and Shelly Craft couldn’t help but notice Luke and Jasmin had the exact same secret door as best friends and rivals, Jimmy and Tam. 

But while Luke and Jasmin’s secret door was to conceal storage space, Jimmy and Tam used the exact same timber design to hide their laundry.  

In September, Shaynna told the couple she had some concerns about their kids’ bedroom after discovering they had completely ripped off their design.  

Luke and Jasmin’s idea for their kids’ bedroom had completely come from the pages of interior design magazine, Inside Out, with Shaynna pointing out all the similarities.
