Loose Women fans left cringing over ‘ridiculous’ and ‘painful’ Nicole Kidman interview

Loose Women viewers were left cringing during Tuesday’s show over an interview with Nicole Kidman, which they branded ‘ridiculous’ and ‘painful’.

Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, the Hollywood actress, 53, was unable to fly to London for the interview and instead appeared via video call from her home in America.

But the show’s attempts to make the pre-recorded chat look like a live video call between Nicole and the panel didn’t go too well with fans, with one asking: ‘Are we meant to believe that was live and unscripted?’

Oh dear: Loose Women viewers were left cringing during Tuesday’s show over an interview with Nicole Kidman, which they branded ‘ridiculous’ and ‘painful’

The show saw the panel asking questions one by one, with topics ranging from motherhood, to shocking things she’s read about herself, to Hugh Grant – who she’s starring alongside in upcoming series The Undoing.

Loose Women’s Stacey Solomon and Linda Robson asked questions from their homes, while Nadia Sawalha and Janet Street-Porter addressed Nicole from the studio – with the ladies previously expressing their excitement about chatting with the A-lister.

However, the flow of the interview didn’t sit right with viewers, with many taking to Twitter in their droves to comment on the ‘cringe’ and ‘painful’ segment.

‘Seriously #loosewomen that was not an interview in any stretch of the imagination. Nicole Kidman answered 3 questions that a 6 year old would ask’ commented one viewer.

While another asked: ‘Did anyone else witness the very strange Nicole Kidman interview on #LooseWomen I’ve never cringed so much, were they trying to act or?’

A third person tweeted: ‘Sorry but what in the ITV daytime hell was that scripted zoom call with Nicole Kidman #LooseWomen.’

‘#LooseWomen what a stupid interview that was with Nicole Kidman. Or was it staged?’ questioned a fourth.

Not impressed: The show's attempts to make the pre-recorded chat look like a live video call between Nicole and the panel didn't go too well with fans, with one asking: 'Are we meant to believe that was live and unscripted?'

‘Cracking up at this ridiculous ‘chat’ between Stacey, Nadia, Janet and Nicole Kidman’ wrote a fifth person.

A further watcher remarked: ‘#LooseWomen are we meant to believe that was live and unscripted? I’ve seen more character from a turnip.’

With another agreeing: ‘Do they really expect us to believe they’re having an actual conversation? Cringe.’

Meanwhile, during the segment, Nicole revealed she won’t let her younger children join Instagram.

The actress, who shares daughters Sunday, 12, and Faith, nine, with her husband Keith Urban, admitted her little girls are ‘chomping at the bit’ to be on social media, but confessed she’s restricted them as she struggles to monitor technology.

Describing motherhood as ‘joyful’, the screen star said she aims to ‘guide’ her kids while avoiding to fall into the trap of being a ‘helicopter parent’.

The thespian, who also shares her adopted children Isabella, 27, and Connor, 25, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, spoke to the panelists via live link about her biggest worry as a mum.

Insisting she’s apprehensive about introducing Sunday and Faith to social media, Nicole explained: ‘The technology. I’m not very techy myself. It’s very hard for me to monitor it and stay on it.

‘I won’t let them be on Instagram.. I have a 12-year-old right now who is chomping at the bit and wants to get into all of that. It’s just that constant push, pull. I’d say a lot of parents would say the same thing.’

The TV and film star went on to detail what she prioritises when it comes to raising her mini-mes: ‘I think it’s keeping their confidence and their self-esteem intact.

'He always compartmentalises things': The screen star also gushed about her 'mellow' husband Keith, 53, who she credited for being a strong support system (pictured in January)

‘And still guiding them, not being overbearing, trying not to ‘helicopter parent’. Allowing them to make mistakes and fall down and not trying to sort of absorb that pain.

‘There are so many things. But it’s a joy, it’s a joy having these beautiful little women that are growing up and I’m discovering them day by day. I love it.’

While the media personality has a close relationship with her younger girls, it has been widely reported that she has been estranged from her adoptive children Bella and Connor since she divorced fellow actor Tom, 58, in 2001.

Bella and Connor, like their father, are believed to be members of the Church of Scientology.

Elsewhere in the discussion, Nicole gushed about her ‘mellow’ husband Keith, 53, who she credited for being a strong support system during her time in the spotlight.

The Aquaman star said: ‘I try not to read too much about myself. I just try to let it all just drift off. I live with a man who is really mellow. He always can compartmentalise things and go, ”Don’t worry about that”.’
