Police arrest pensioner, 74, for murder after woman in her 50s is found dead at her Cornish home

  • Found with multiple injuries and declared dead as officers arrested a pensioner 
  • Officers said it was an ‘isolated incident’ and are not looking for anyone else  

A 74-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 50s was found dead at her Cornish home. 

Police and ambulance crews entered the house in Foundry Square, Hayle at 2am today over concerns for the woman’s welfare. 

She was found with multiple injuries and declared dead. A man remains in custody and officers are not seeking anyone else.

Senior investigation officer Detective Inspector Stephanie Blundell said: ‘This is currently being treated as an isolated incident and at this time we are not seeking anyone else in connection to the death. 

A scene guard currently remains in place and local residents are likely to see officers in the area over the coming hours as the investigation continues.’
