The 31-year-old actress who played Lady Sybil Crawley until 2012 when the character died from eclampsia, revealed she couldn’t warn her mum ‘because she does like to have a little chat with the neighbours about everything’.
Jessica kept the secret right up until the day her death scene appeared on TV – while she was on a flight to America.

Jessica explains: ‘I’d arrived in the States to start a job… and I had a call from my mum. She was distraught.
‘She’d just settled down for a little Sunday evening, nice glass of red wine, chilling out… and then she was calling me in tears, saying, “I just watched you die.”
‘She was in pieces!’
