Pete Davidson was all over this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live.
Hosted by the brilliant Adele, Davidson brought the house down in a Halloween-appropriate skit as the blissful and beloved Chad.
It was a change from the week prior, when the King Of Staten Island star, 26, was barely seen.
But in the interim, he received some undue attention, in the form of a potential callout from his ex-lover and onetime fiancee, Ariana Grande.

The 27-year-old pop star, whom Pete dated in 2018, dropped the title track off her new album Positions on Friday – just one day before the live taping of SNL – and the second lyric seems to allude to Davidson directly.
However, the funnyman – who’s been somewhat of a casanova since Ari, with ex-girlfriends including Kaia Gerber, Margaret Qualley and Kate Beckinsale – appeared unruffled and in good form on Saturday night, when he appeared in several skits for the sketch show where he’s performed since 2014.
The best was when Pete reprised his role of goofy, laid back dude Chad opposite Adele, 32.

In the skit, the Hello songstress appeared as a foreboding specter in a grandiose haunted manor, who must contend with the happy-go-lucky kid who always finds himself in extreme and scary situations, yet somehow manages to emerge unscathed with a simple ‘OK’ and a shrug of his shoulders.
Davidson also played Adele’s unemployed boyfriend in a raucous gag that featured the always-hysterical SNL alum Maya Rudolph, who came back this weekend for several skits.
In that passage, Rudolph played a hard-of-hearing grandma at a nursing home who comes out on the porch to be greeted from a safe distance (during COVID-19) by her grandchildren down below.

As her progeny try to catch old granny up on their lives, they continually must break it down to the simplest of terms so that she can understand.
So what starts out as Pete finding various euphemisms for his state of joblessness while girlfriend Adele is the only one working, soon becomes ‘I have no job!’ and ‘I’m basically like a house pet.’
Other standout moments in the 90-minute telecast included luminous musical performer H.E.R., who dazzled with two mellow, soulful and seductive performances.

The two-time R&B Grammy winner, 23, performed her tracks Damage and Hold On, and during the second song, her backup singers and band wore black t-shirts with the hashtag #ENDSARS across the front.
The move was in solidarity with the humanitarian crisis currently underway in Nigeria, where the Special Anti-Robbery Squad is continuing abusive conduct.
Adele, meanwhile, got to make use of her substantial pipes, even though she was not the musical guest for the evening.

Bachelor send-up: Adele, meanwhile, got to make use of her substantial pipes, even though she was not the musical guest for the evening
In an amusing send-up of The Bachelor, the Rumor Has It hitmaker played herself, vying for the attention of Beck Bennett’s Bachelor amongst competitors.
But when things didn’t go Adele’s way, the lighting changed and she broke out into dramatic song – a veritable catalog of her hits, from Rolling In The Deep to Someone Like You.
Another fun moment came toward the end of the episode, when Adele nearly lost it by cracking up into laughter in between Kate McKinnon and Heidi Gardner during a rather strange skit about the Africa Tourism Board.
In the skit: Adele played herself, vying for the attention of Beck Bennett’s Bachelor amongst competitors, but when things didn’t go her way, the lighting changed and she broke into song

Other than their amazingly teased hairdos, the passage was also irresistibly funny thanks to random music video interludes featuring Bennett, who was clearly channeling Corey Hart or Paul Young.

Adele’s episode of Saturday Night Live was the show’s 893rd, as part of the 46th season.
SNL began back in 1975, and this summer for the first time included episodes done remotely from home due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
Next week’s Halloween episode will feature John Mulaney as host, along with musical guest The Strokes.
