Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari reunite with their Laguna Beach co-stars on Zoom

The popular MTV reality series Laguna Beach came to an end after three seasons in November of 2006.

And nearly 14-years later, Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, and the rest of their Laguna Beach co-stars reunited via Zoom to reflect on their experience on the show.

Laguna Beach, which premiered in 2004, followed the lives of a select group of students attending Laguna Beach High School.

Specifically, Friday’s reunion included Conrad, Cavallari, and the original cast of season one: Stephen Colletti, Trey Phillips, Dieter Schmitz, Lo Bosworth, Talan Torriero, Morgan Smith and Christina Sinclair.

The old schoolmates orchestrated the remote gathering in partnership with #GoodToVote and the non-profit organization HeadCount in the hopes of encouraging viewers to register and vote in the upcoming election.

‘I feel like the last time we all might have been in the same room was when we were going to the VMAs one time,’ recalled Stephen Colletti, who famously dated Kristin Cavallari on the teens-only series.

‘MTV was like ‘Here, we’re going to launch this show and here’s 45 minutes of media training. Go have fun and then this show is going to air on MTV. Good luck!”

Not so real: Despite the MTV's emphasis on the 'reality' element of Laguna Beach, Cavallari admitted that the cast had to do 'a lot of pickup scenes' down the line, which meant many scenes were 'definitely out of order'

Prom-ception: She called having 'to pretend like [their] prom just happened' and then, in a later scene, she was told to 'pretend like prom hasn't happened'

During the 30-minute reunion, the Laguna Beach cast rehashed old memories and how the series paved the way for future reality TV shows.

‘That was the coolest part of our experience — reality TV was not really a thing before Laguna Beach,’ explained Christina Sinclair.

‘In retrospect, we all would have been very different had we been exposed to reality TV the way we have now. In a way, I feel like that’s what made Laguna Beach so iconic. We really went in with no expectations, having no idea what we were doing.’

Trey Phillips added: ‘It’s crazy because I remember watching it when it first came out and every time you’re like, “That’s not exactly how it was. They changed this.”‘

‘Then all of a sudden, 10 years later, you’re watching it and you’re like, “Oh that b*tch!”‘

Conrad, who was just 18-years-old at the time of Laguna Beach’s premiere, opened up about keeping her parents in the loop when it came to her onscreen antics.

‘My parents were pretty much okay with it,’ claimed Lauren, who is now 34.

Although they made plenty of memories filming the series as teens, the entire cast admitted that they have never rewatched the series in their adult years.

‘I’ve seen minutes of it, but I’ve never re-watched the whole thing,’ said Cavallari, 33, who went on to star in series’ spin-off The Hills and her very own show Very Cavallari in 2018.
