Justin Hartley has ‘not been approached’ to recreate This Is Us co-star Milo Ventimiglia’s butt shot

This Is Us returns to NBC for a highly anticipated fifth season on October 27.

And ahead of the big premiere, Justin Hartley, 43, phoned into SiriusXM’s EW Live to chat about the popular primetime series with host Jessica Shaw on Thursday.

At one point, Hartley was asked whether or not he would be open to one day ‘mirroring’ co-star Milo Ventimiglia’s famous ‘butt shot’ from the series’ pilot episode.

‘Oh, I love it,’ replied Justin through fits of laughter. ‘I think Milo brought the house down.’

Ventimiglia, who plays patriarch Jack Pearson, famously bared his behind in the pilot’s opening sequence, while wrapping a towel around himself in bedroom he shared with wife Rebecca, played by Mandy Moore.

Shaw even noted to Hartley that a commemorative ‘butt shot’ would make sense since his character Kevin, who happens to be Jack’s son, has a very similar storyline to his father at the moment.

‘I don’t think, you know, I don’t think that you try to, I don’t think you double down on the butt shots,’ continued Justin. ‘I think, do that, you do that once.’

He also admitted that none of the heavyweights behind This Is Us have ‘approached [him] yet about whether or not [he] would show [his] a**’ at some point on the show.

‘So, I think that…if they asked me I would…you’ll be the first to know if they asked me and I say yes, I will tell them to call you first and let you know,’ promised Justin to the show’s eager host.

Despite playing a heartthrob on the series, Hartley joked about whether or not anyone would actually want to see his derriere on screen due to his age.

You know, I’m getting older. Is that, is that a thing, maybe. Maybe it’s because they’re like, “Nah, we’re good without that,”‘ he joked.

Hartley also chatted with host Bevy Smith on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy about This Is Us on Thursday, but he also took a moment to open up about his personal life.

Justin found himself in the tabloids over the past year in regards to his very public divorce from fellow actor and Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause, 39.

Smith asked Justin whether or not the public’s infatuation with his crumbling marriage has shifted focus away from his successes as an actor..

‘I don’t know if I agree that the acting goes on the back burner. I think this country and the world, especially this country, has an insatiable appetite for gossip and for sort of clickbait stuff, which is basically, you know, don’t do any research. Don’t look anything up, just if you read it, then it must be true,’ he explained.

‘People that I associate with form opinions based on facts, and not based on kind of, well, bologna, but that’s okay…I understand it as well, because if I see something online that it is something outrageous…like I’m a big Dodger fan. Right. And if I see something online that’s unbelievably outrageous about the Dodgers before I think, “Oh, that’s obviously clickbait” I might actually click on it.

‘So I’m not, you know, impervious to that, either. I think people want to know about other people’s personal affairs, but I would just caution people.’

Getting personal: Hartley also chatted with host Bevy Smith on SiriusXM's Radio Andy about This Is Us on Thursday, but he also took a moment to open up about his personal life

He added that he often ‘cautions’ his 16-year-old daughter Isabella Justice about believing everything she reads online.

‘I tell her, I said, “you really can’t just believe something because you read it.”‘

Despite being clearly irritated about the misleading headlines he often reads about himself, Justin firmly stated that he is ‘really happy’ about where he is at the moment in his personal and professional life.

‘I’m really happy with where I am. I’m happy with my career. I’m happy with my personal life. I’m healthy, I’m safe. I’m I mean, all of those things. I’m very thankful. For the people who want to dive into the gossip and believe everything, they read, that’s fine too. If they’re getting entertainment from that, I think it sort of comes with the territory, but I’ve also had his view that I will have a public life, but I will be very private about my personal affairs,’ he concluded.
