‘Her innocent face was plastered with shock and fear, screaming for help’: Erin Molan reveals the horrifying moment her daughter Eliza, two, was involved in an accident at home

Erin Molan has revealed the shocking moment her toddler daughter was involved in an accident at home.

In a column for Essential Baby, the 37-year-old sports reporter says she was carrying a number of cans of soft drink down the stairs when she dropped them.

As the cans exploded, Erin quickly protected her hair from getting wet – then she realised in horror that the cans had actually landed around little Eliza, two.

‘I looked back and the image will haunt me forever. There she was, my two-year-old, on the landing in the middle of the ‘attack’.

‘Her beautiful, innocent face plastered with shock and fear, screaming for help,’ Erin explained.

She added:  ‘Not knowing what the hell was going on, [she was] genuinely traumatised and terrified. I leapt back down and scooped her up’.

Erin said that she comforted the tot – who calmed down quickly.

‘She was totally fine within about 10 seconds and giggled madly for the whole trip to preschool,’ she added.

However, the experience haunted Erin, even if her daughter was fine.

‘What kind of mother leaps to protect herself (hair) instead of first grabbing the little person I grew for nine months in my belly and then birthed?’ she asked herself.

Earlier this year, Erin revealed that she struggles being away from her daughter while she works.

‘The second I leave for work I miss her so much,’ she wrote in an Instagram caption shared with her fans.

 ‘It’s like a dull ache until I get home… and I LOVE my jobs… motherhood…’ she added.
