Nadia Bartel throws her support behind controversial #RespectMyBeauty social media campaign

Former WAG Nadia Bartel throws her support behind social media campaign aimed at stopping mandatory masks in Melbourne beauty salons

Former WAG Nadia Bartel has thrown her support behind a social media campaign which is against regulations requiring masks to be worn at the beauty therapist.

Nadia, 35, who is a beauty influencer, shared a post which slammed Third Step restrictions forcing mandatory mask-wearing when the city’s salons reopen.

Melbourne is currently under tough restrictions, with the post arguing any reopening date is ‘redundant’ unless they can work on customers without masks.

‘We don’t need a date to reopen, but a date to work, to treat, and financially rebuild,’ the post, which had premier Daniel Andrews tagged in it, stated in part.

Currently, beauty therapists still aren’t operating in Melbourne, with barbers and hairdressers only allowed to re-open on Monday.

The post went on to say that the beauty industry could not successfully rebuild if clinicians were required to wear masks.

‘As long as you are required to wear a mask during your treatment, any future reopening date is redundant,’ they added.

‘We cannot treat your skin or face with a mask on.’

The post went on to say that mandatory mask wearing needed to be placed on hold while customers were undergoing treatment.

‘We need mandatory masks wearing to be safely on pause during your treatment time with us. We can be trusted with your safety.’

It finished by saying brother and sister clinics in other states have shown they can operate at full capacity with clients masks removed with no covid cases.

According to the Victorian government’s coronavirus website, Melbourne beauty salons will be allowed to reopen when Third Step restrictions are in place.

‘They can only offer services where a mask can be worn for the duration of the service,’ the website states.
