Will you go to prom with me? On Thursday, Netflix dropped the star studded trailer for Ryan Murphy’s upcoming musical feature, The Prom, which boasts an epic cast of Hollywood heavy hitters

The Prom is about a troupe of ‘self-obsessed’ theater stars that arrive to a small town in Indiana to support a lesbian high school student who wants to take her girlfriend to prom.

‘You got the steps, you got the notes, but where’s the zazz baby?’ Kidman’s sequin clad character asks at the start of the trailer.

Then viewers meet Emma Nolan, a high schooler who gets banned from taking her girlfriend Alyssa to the prom by the head of the PTA (played by Kerry Washington) – despite being supported by the principle (Keegan-Michael Key).

When a pair fledgling stage stars from New York, Dee Dee Allen (Meryl Streep) and Barry Glickman (James Corden), hear of Emma’s predicament the decide to step in to help.

The duo’s assistance is no where near altruistic as they think that helping Emma will effectively revive their destroyed public image after their last stage production was a total flop.

Along with two other has-beens, Angie (Nicole Kidman) and Trent (Andrew Rannells), the foursome descends on the small town of Edgewater to take over the prom for Emma.

‘What is going on? Who are you people?’ Kerry Washington asks in the teaser as the peculiar and flamboyant quartet shows up.
