Shane Warne’s son Jackson reveals his guilt over not playing cricket

‘I always thought I was letting Australia down’: Shane Warne’s son Jackson reveals his guilt over choosing not to play cricket

He’s been overshadowed by his father’s celebrity status since he was a young boy, and turned to SAS Australia to reinvent himself.

But despite his best efforts, 21-year-old Jackson Warne still feels like he’s ‘let Australia down’ by not playing cricket like his old man.

‘I always subconsciously thought I was letting Australia down by not giving cricket a chance and seeing what I could do, but I have gotten to the point in my life where I am happy with who I am and what I have chosen to do,’ he told Now To Love.

‘There wasn’t really that pressure [to be a cricketer] because at the end of the day, my mum and dad want me to be happy – they never really pushed me to play cricket or any other sports,’ he added.

The model has instead opted to test his strength and endurance by starring on SAS Australia, alongside other celebrities including rugby player Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins, former Bachelorette Ali Oetjen and comedian Merrick Watts.

The initial group of 17 endured cold nights, rigorous training drills, interrogation, cliff climbs, mud crawls, boxing matches and helicopter drops on the show.

It has been a ‘life-changing’ experience for Jackson, who told the publication it helped him to ‘never to take anything for granted’.

He also revealed the one activity he and his father do, in fact, have in common: playing poker.

‘We have completely different playing styles. My dad is very competitive and plays aggressively, whereas I am calmer and more patient in the way I play,’ Jackson said, adding he likes ‘baiting’ his opponents to ‘make them think I am dumber than I am’.

His comments come as he shocked viewers on Tuesday’s episode of SAS Australia when he revealed he’d only tried ’10 different foods before’.

And cursory glance at Jackson’s Instagram account proves he does, in fact, follow an extremely limited diet – and has done for years.

This is another trait he share with his father, as the 51-year-old spin bowler famously had baked beans delivered to him on Indian tours because he could not eat spicy food.
