Merrick Watts’ incredible weight-loss transformation prior to starring on TV series SAS Australia

Comedian Merrick Watts reveals his incredible weight-loss transformation after debuting his fit physique on SAS Australia

He’s currently starring on Channel Seven’s SAS Australia.

And compared to a few years ago, Merrick Watts looks unrecognisable after dropping two pant sizes before appearing on the military-style show.

The radio funnyman, 46, reportedly shed 12.5kg in 2016 – and he’s managed to keep the weight off.

‘I feel really healthy, I feel really good, and pretty happy with the results,’ he told Channel Seven’s The Daily Edition at the time.

Prior to undertaking the Men’s Health 12-week challenge, Merrick topped the scales about 100kg.

‘I thought I should see what the best snapshot of Merrick Watts looks like,’ he told Yahoo! Lifestyle in 2016.

‘I’ve never seen my abs before and it’s a bit like Santa … I believe they exist, but I haven’t seen them.’

The father-of-two has since been able to maintain his healthy routine and physique, and even revealed the gruelling lengths he went to in preparation for appearing on SAS Australia.

‘With suggestions from mates of mine who are former SAS and commando operators, they told me not to worry about going to the gym,’ he told news.com.au.

‘They told me to do strength training and punishing endurance. They told me I needed to become comfortable with being uncomfortable.’

Merrick, who suffers from Raynaud’s disease, added he ran Sydney’s Bay Run for six hours with a 40kg pack on his back prior to the show, and ‘ended up doing 31km and that was non-stop from 3am.’

‘At the end of it, I had literally lost toenails. I broke my feet, I was in absolute agony. But I just pushed on until I passed my six-hour goal,’ he told the publication.

Merrick is starring on SAS Australia alongside celebrities including Bachelorette Ali Oetjen, model Erin McNaught, Shane Warne’s son Jackson Warne, PR queen Roxy Jacenko, AFLW star Sabrina Frederick and Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins.
