Jamie Lynn Spears revealed she auditioned for Twilight JUST before learning she was pregnant

Jamie Lynn Spears is opening up about her past, including her controversial teenage pregnancy which coincided with an audition for Twilight.

The 29-year-old actress and singer revealed in a new interview with Nylon Magazine that she auditioned for an unspecified role in the first Twilight movie.

The actress was just coming off filming the final season of her hit Nickelodeon series Zoey 101, but she wasn’t too thrilled about the prospect of a Twilight audition. 

‘They had to force me. I remember just thinking like, “Y’all are insane. I’m not playing a vampire. That is so stupid. Why would I do that?”‘ she began.

‘But I went and read for that role. I remember sitting in this little room, and I think Lily Collins was there, and I felt so sick. Little did I know, I was pregnant,’ she added.

Spears, the younger sister of pop phenom Britney Spears, made headlines when she revealed she was pregnant at just 16 years of age, with her high school sweetheart Casey Aldridge.

While her pregnancy and the natural ending of Zoey 101 coincided with each other, many fans blamed her pregnancy for the show being off the air, which lead to her taking a five-year hiatus from the public eye.

‘In today’s world, immediately I’d have my social media to post something, and it’d be cleared up. But even today, people still have their thoughts about it,’ she said.

‘I didn’t become pregnant until probably six months after we wrapped or something like that, but some of the episodes had not aired yet,’ she added.

‘I think that there was a conversation with Nickelodeon, rightfully so, of, ‘Do we air these episodes?’ But the show had already wrapped and there was never a negotiation to go into any more seasons. We were too old. It was done,’ Spears said.

She called Aldridge her, ‘first love,’ though they split in 2010, as Spears added she thought it was ‘forever’

‘I am mortified to have to tell my parents this and my family this. I do not care what TMZ thinks about it,’ Spears added.

‘That was all I was thinking about: “These are the people I love that I have to tell, and also, I’m pregnant. There’s a human being growing inside of me, and I’m so young, I’m almost a baby myself.” 

She added that while she did ‘hide away’ after announcing her pregnancy, paparazzi still found her. 

‘It’s not like I was in LA walking down the middle of the most popular boulevard; I was in the middle of nowhere Mississippi,’ she added.

Spears added she ‘got a little house, put a big gate up around it, and I was like, “I’m going to stay here, raise my baby, and figure this out because this is real life.”‘

She added she ‘tried to do the best that I could’ but throughout the nine months of her pregnancy she always saw paparazzi everywhere she went. 

‘But I just knew that if I just stayed away from it long enough that I could give my child some sense of normalcy back in her life,’ she added.
