Emmy winner Zendaya teases ‘two special Euphoria episodes’ with the first Christmas-themed episode debuting December 6

Just under a month after her historic Emmy win, Zendaya revealed new episodes of her hit HBO series Euphoria are coming soon.

The 24-year-old actress, who became the youngest in history to win Outstanding Lead Actress In a Drama Series for playing Rue Bennett in Euphoria, took to Instagram on Monday to share a unique photo.

She also teased that there will be two new episodes of Euphoria, with the first arriving December 6, with HBO also revealing it’s a Christmas-themed episode.

‘We really missed them. Two special Euphoria episodes coming soon. First one December 6th on @hbo’ Zendaya said in the caption of the photo, which featured a close-up of an eye with Zendaya seen in the pupil’s reflection.

The official announcement from HBO revealed the first episode will debut at 9 PM ET on December 6, and will be available on HBO Max thereafter.

No details and release date were given for the second episode, though the first will be set over the Christmas holiday.

‘In the aftermath of being left by Jules at the train station and relapsing, the first special episode follows Rue (played by Emmy-winner Zendaya) as she celebrates Christmas,’ reads the official description.

The first season, which came to a close last August, ended with Rue, a recovering drug addict, being left by her new friend Jules (Hunter Schaffer), leading to her relapse.

The first special episode is entitled Trouble Don’t Last Always, written and directed by series creator Sam Levinson.

The episode will also feature the return of Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead) as the recurring character Ali.

Domingo appeared as Ali in four of the eight Season 1 episodes of Euphoria, a fellow addict who Rue encounters at her Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

Zendaya also recently reunited with Euphoria co-creator Sam Levinson with their new movie Malcolm & Marie, starring alongside John David Washington.

Netflix picked up the film, which was shot during quarantine as well, for a whopping $30 million deal at the Toronto  International Film Festival, according to a Deadline report from September. 

She also stars as Chani in the highly-anticipated Dune reboot, which was pushed into 2021, and the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel as MJ.
