The Block: An insider claims the renovation show is ‘plotted like a TV drama’

‘There’s lots of smoke and mirrors’: Insider claims The Block is ‘plotted like a TV drama and the contestants actually do very little work’

The Block has featured its fair share of meltdowns and walk-offs so far this season.

But according to New Idea, the show is actually carefully ‘plotted’ by producers and the contestants themselves ‘do very little work’ on site.

‘The Block is a top-rating TV series that runs like a well-oiled machine but there’s lots of smoke and mirrors,’ an insider told the magazine.

‘The contestants do very little work. They are there for TV content, not their building or renovating skills,’ the source added.

‘Each couple has a dedicated producer to feed them dialogue and storylines as directed by the executive producers.’

Contrary to these claims, former participants on The Block have claimed they worked themselves to the brink of exhaustion.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

It comes after fans of The Block slammed foreman Keith Schleiger’s behaviour and called him a ‘bully’.

He was accused of ‘fat shaming’ contestant Daniel Joyce and recently found himself at the centre of yet another altercation with Harry Pavlou.

‘With each season he becomes nastier towards those he’s paid to guide through the renovations,’ one angry viewer wrote on social media.

‘Let’s see if The Block puts Keith up for a Logie because he does a great job of over-dramatising and pot-stirring,’ another tweeted.

‘Does Keith do anything? All I see is him pick on all the houses with a coffee in his hand. I’m disliking him more and more,’ a third commented.

‘You can communicate without being a bully,’ a fourth added.

‘Keith is rude and arrogant,’ one viewer chimed in, as another wrote: ‘The nastiness by Keith is a bad example to be shown on television.’
