‘The wait is finally over!’ Great British Bake Off star Dave Friday becomes a father for the first time as he welcomes son Ronnie with girlfriend Stacey

The Great British Bake Off star Dave Friday ended the week with some happy news after confirming partner Stacey has given birth to their first child. 

Dave, a contestant on the current series of the show, confirmed the news in a series of Instagram posts shared with followers on Thursday evening. 

The Hampshire based armoured guard, 30, pictured himself and long-tern partner Stacey cradling their baby son, revealing they had opted to call him Ronnie.

He wrote: ‘The wait is finally over! We’re thrilled to welcome little Ronnie to the world. So excited to start the next chapter of our lives.’

Playfully referencing his current appearance on Bake Off, Dave also shared an image of newborn son holding a whisk.  

In another image Ronnie is seen relaxing in front of the TV during the latest instalment of Great British Bake Off.

The posts prompted an immediate response from followers, with new Bake Off host Matt Lucas along the first to congratulate the couple. 

Replying to the update, he wrote: ‘waaaaaaaaah! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!’ 

Dave and Stacey originally announced they were preparing to become parents after taking to Instagram in September. 

The aspiring baker shared a black and white image ofhis heavily pregnant partner standing in profile as he kissed her prominent baby bump. 

Captioning the image, he wrote: ‘My world.’

Dave will be hoping to win the current series of Bake Off, which was pre-recorded in accordance with current health and safety guidelines. 

It’s understood that cast an crew isolated together while filming to prevent a COVID-19 outbreak on set.  

Talking ahead of his first Bake Off appearance, Dave said: ‘My strengths are the ability to learn from mistakes, take criticism and use it to improve.

‘I am incredibly determined and see the positive in every situation. Weaknesses would be feeling overwhelmed when mess builds up and struggling with some baking jargon. And French words!’
