EastEnders SPOILER: Serial killer Lucas Johnson makes his explosive return

EastEnders serial killer Lucas Johnson is set to make his return to Albert Square, in scenes set to air later this year.

And actor Don Gilet was seen back out on set as he filmed tense scenes on Thursday that saw his character get beaten up shortly after being released from prison.

The notorious Walford murderer was revealed to be making a comeback on the soap earlier this year, but other residents are clearly not too happy by the prospect as Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is determined to do away with him.

EastEnders SPOILER: Serial killer Lucas Johnson made his explosive return to Albert Square but was brutally attacked in tense scenes filmed on Thursday

Lucas was seen looking wildly around him as he was surrounded by a group of men, who quickly took him down and beat him up.

Maintaining social distancing rules whilst filming, the actors were seen taking turns to pretend to punch the floor before Don falling on the floor and splaying himself out so that the crew could put the different angles together in post-production.

Don looked sharp in character, as he paired a navy coat with a grey button-up shirt and matching trousers.

As part of Lucas’ return, Phil and Denise Fox (Diane Parish) are set to reunite with their son Raymond, but the killer is also keen to be a part of the boy’s life now he has got out of prison.

Denise, understandably, is concerned over what ex-husband Lucas might do if he does get to meet with Raymond, after previously keeping her a prisoner in his basement during his killing spree.

While keeping her captive, Lucas faked Denise’s death and tried to implicate her in the murders he committed against her ex-husband Owen Turner and drug addict Trina, who he shares son Jordan.

However, at the time, Lucas realised the error of his ways and allowed Denise to escape before getting arrested and being sentenced with life in prison, though he has been allowed out after serving ten years of that sentence.

In the new scenes, it’s clear that Phil is not happy to hear he is set to return, as he got a group of heavies to attack him.

However, Lucas is set to survive the assault and still make his way to Albert Square regardless, how will Phil and Denise react?

Discussing his character coming back, Don previously said: ‘I’m thrilled and honoured to be asked to breathe life once again into such a complex, controversial and divisive character but, most importantly, to have another opportunity to work alongside one of the UK’s finest actors, Diane Parish. I feel blessed.’
