More details have emerged about Denise’s Drysdale’s tragic fall last week, after it was revealed she’d been admitted to hospital after injuring herself.

Speaking on the podcast TV Blackbox & McKnight Tonight on Thursday, host Rob McKnight revealed the 71-year-old veteran TV star was performing her signature ‘chicken dance’ when she fell.

Rob said Denise was filming for Channel Seven’s upcoming game show, Holey Moley, when she decided to ham it up for the audience.

‘[Denise] was playing up to the crowd and performing her infamous chicken dance on a flat part of the course. Her back was injured in several places,’ he revealed.

Rob said he’d been on the show’s set the night of her accident, but had already left when she fell.

Speaking more about the accident, he said she’d probably ‘done a dance for the crowd to keep them entertained, that’s what Denise does’.

It was revealed on last Friday’s episode of Studio 10 that the beloved media personality had suffered a ‘serious’ fall.

Host Sarah Harris broke the news of Denise’s accident, telling her co-stars and viewers the fall had come as a ‘shock’.

‘She will have surgery today, so it’s serious,’ the 39-year-old TV host added.

While it wasn’t initially revealed what sort of injuries Denise had sustained in the fall, Sarah said she’d ‘hurt herself in a couple of places’. 

But entertainment reporter Craig Bennett assured fans that the veteran TV personality was ‘going to be okay’. 

‘She’s wound up doing herself a terrible damage. She’s in hospital now… She’s about to be wheeled into surgery to have certain body bits fixed up,’ he added.

On Saturday, the Herald Sun revealed Denise ‘broke her shoulder in three places’ while filming for Holey Moley in the early hours of Friday morning.

In a statement provided to the newspaper, the show’s producers said: ‘While filming Holey Moley in Brisbane, Denise Drysdale tripped on a putting green and sustained a shoulder injury. 

‘Denise is a national treasure and everyone is wishing her a speedy recovery.’
